Good start on week 26

We got 3 fish yesterday and sport is slowish but decent in patches. Here’s a lovely Gaula fish caught by regular Glenn Hole just before the big storm arrived.

The weather has been difficult in the early part of week 26. We’ve had a heatwave for the past 10 days and the snow melt has finally been exhausted.
 
Yesterday we had a tremendous thunder storm which I am pleased to report, cleared the air somewhat.
 
Anyhow, we got 3 fish yesterday and sport is slowish but decent in patches.
Here’s a lovely fish caught by regular Glenn Hole just before the big storm arrived.
Fish settling into pools now.
 
The run appears to be steady but not prolific so far. It’s a changing picture here now. Let’s see what happens…

Persistence paid off

Week 27 saw Gaula running at a nice level after a couple of mid-week mini-spates which saw the river running at low to medium height.

Today’s choice – one of my own flies, the Martinson – I named the fly after finding a moth-eaten collection of old flies belonging to an old Swedish fisherman who fished at Winsnes for many years.
